Stomatology treatment using P-Stim™
P-STIM™ is a non-drug pain treatment device which can be used in all cases of chronic and acute pain. P-STIM™ is a mobile, battery powered, microchip controlled neurostimulation device. Due to the fact that it transmits low frequency pinpoint electrical pulses to the targeted zones of five subcutaneous brain nerves (Trigeminal, Cervical plexus, Facial, Vagus and Glossopharyngeal nerve) it increases the production of the natural body’s endorphins.
Endorphins (endogenous morphine) are the strongest, natural opioids of the human body, given that they resemble the opiates in their abilities to produce analgesia and a feeling of well-being. Consequently, P-STIM™ lowers long-term pain sensitivity.
The device is programmed with a 3 hour on and a 3 hour off cycle.
Clinical studies and clinical applications have shown that P-STIM™ increases blood perfusion. Further, it is possible that P-STIM™ aids the release of tissue hormones which stimulate the formation of capillaries/small blood vessels. Studies have also shown that P-STIM™ increases oxygenation, reduces inflammation and improves wound healing. Therefore, it can be used in dentistry in order to relief dental patients. Its beneficial action can be summarized in the following chart:
P-STIM™ relieves patients’ pain almost instantly. In 2009 we performed 3 times more implants than in 2008. The fact that a total of more than 5.000 devices have been used worldwide is indicative of its effectiveness. With P-STIM™ pain is decreased to almost zero level.
P-STIM™ can be used even for the treatment of TMJ syndrome. Temporomandibular joint disorder, TMJD (in the medical literature TMD), or TMJ syndrome, is an umbrella term covering acute or chronic pain, especially in the muscles of mastication and/or inflammation of the temporomandibular joint, which connects the mandible to the skull.
In short, P-STIM™ not only alleviates pain, but also helps accelerate wound healing and treatment in various dental cases.
